We visit an expansive private woodland garden with a diverse selection of established specimen trees, shrubs and specialty plants.
Also including an impressive 1000 year old totara tree [still growing], a home orchard and small plant nursery… plus “Granny’s Cottage” museum.
Lunch: Ruapuna Park.
Where: Michael’s Wetlands [Free entry], Main Road Sth Rangiwahia. – opposite Mangahuia Rd interection.
A nearby property, featuring a large recreational lake. Created over twenty years ago and extensively planted in all manner of interesting trees, shrubs and wetland plants. Trout, along with various water fowl also grace the habitat.
It is planned to have Michael accompany us, as we wander around the lake perimeter. We can share his vision, outstanding achievement and future landscaping aspirations.
