Field Day at Warren’s Property
Pruning apples, grapes, peaches, plums and everything else!
9.30am on Saturday 14th July 2012 at Churchill Road, Pukekawa.
This is a great opportunity for you to sharpen up your skills for pruning a variety of fruit trees. Warren Russell will be our mentor and he will be demonstrating the pruning of a variety of trees/vines including apples, grapes, persimmons, peaches and plums.
For each of the trees (or vines) we will hear about what the fruit is produced on and therefore the structure to be aimed for. Warren will take us through achieving the desired structure at the various stages through the life of the plant. There will be ample time for your questions.
Bring some money if you want to extend your orchard! Warren has a small nursery and has a great variety of fruit trees for sale. This is a revisit to Warren’s property. Those who were there in March last year will all agree it is one of the most interesting orchards in the district.
If you have any concerns about the weather on the day call the newsletter numbers.
Wear good walking shoes and bring a mug for tea/coffee.
