Permaculture at Paterangi — Sunday 14 July — 1 pm
Carolyn and Alistair are our hosts at Awa Awa Rd, Tasman.
Paterangi is a smallholding of 6 acres located in the Ruby Bay area. “Settling here at the end of 2003 we went through the character-building experience of Moutere clay gravels, zero topsoil and an ever-advancing phalanx of gorse.
After admitting defeat we negotiated a territorial split. Leaving the gorse to the gullies we focussed on the land closest to the house and moved outwards. With a mix of Permaculture design principles, organic methods and a pinch of bio dynamics we continue to experiment with a variety of fruit trees, vegetables and herbs and enjoy sharing the bounty with neighbours and a ravenous flock of chickens, geese and ducks.”
Venue: First find Marriages Rd, which goes off Aporo Rd (the scenic route along the Ruby Coast) at 6 km from the Mapua turnoff or under 3 km from the Tasman turnoff (both these turnoffs are on the Coastal Highway SH60). Marriages Rd leads into Awa Awa Rd on the right.
