Sunday 25th May 2014 starting at 1.30 pm.
We had a great turn-out to the last field day and this one promises to be equally interesting.
We will visit two quite different properties: Boundary Gardens in Masterton and a property along Castlepoint Road.
Boundary Gardens, Boundary Road, Masterton
There is some parking on the road and other parking at the back of the house accessed at the side. The Tree Crops Banner will mark the spot.
Boundary Gardens is owned by Ian and Elizabeth who will show us around.
This one hectare property is planted with olives and peonies. The olives are grown in a novel way. They are grown along wires similar to espaliering. This allows the olives to be harvested using a grape harvester.
The peonies will be at their dormant stage. We will allow approximately one hour at this property.
We will then move on to Castlepoint Road which is owned by Tim and Anna.
Tim and Anna’s Property, Castlepoint Road, Bideford, Masterton.
Directions: Take the Te Ore Ore turn off from SH2 towards Masterton Hospital and then the Masterton-Castlepoint Road for about 21 km.
This is also a one hectare property which is in the early stages of development and prepared for planting. Tim and Anna already have some fig trees and are planning to plant blueberries. They will also be very appreciative of any advice we can give them.
Afternoon tea will be provided here.
For catering purposes, could you please let me know whether you will be attending this event by Thursday 22nd May?
We look forward to seeing many of you on the day.
