Now some more replies from the last blogletter
On behalf of Nick and Andy:
The potentially frost tolerant cultivar is interesting.
Are we sure that its open flowers can tolerate temps of ~ -4.5C?
Or .. could it have ‘produced’ because..
1. The flowers were not open when it was -4.5C
2. The temperature in the tree canopy was much higher than -4.5C. There are many reasons this could have been the case. Finally .. was it really an air frost of -4.5C on 05nov? Are we on the same page here? What I understand by air frost is temperature recorded in an environment where there is no radiation flux such as in a Stevenson screen.
