US: Increased Californian walnut yield expected
Good weather seems to have lead to higher yields than anticipated for the Californian walnut industry.
The California Walnut Commission will release its official figures for the season later this month, but early indications are that production will overcome the initial estimates by a considerable 10-20,000 tons, according to the commission’s CEO, Dennis Balint.
An increase was expected for the year already, with the USDA predicting 470,000 tons, compared to 461,000 in 2011.
